Everytime I hang out with my friends it always becomes a movie night. Movies are fun and the stupid ones are even funner. Last night I saw two movies with my friend Braden, these movies being Vacation (2015) and The Hangover (2009). One left me just disappointed and the other left me laughing.
Vacation (2015)
Vacation is a film staring Ed Helm as an out of touch dad and airplane pilot and his family who are kinda forgettable to be honest other then the little kid. The scenes that are funny, are incredibly funny. The scenes that are unfunny were awful. The movie is trying to be an edgy R Rated film, while being a like family flick, and it's so awkward. It feels forced and faked. The constant throw up scenes, getting covered in feces, it's childish in a unfunny way. (not saying I don't find childish jokes not funny, I'm immature and giggle at Harold and Kumar, but these jokes are childish as in aimed for children.) The funny scenes are just so dumb and funny though. There's this one scene where there's several cops after the parents try to have sex and they're all fighting over state lines since this was at the 4 state monument. The scene with the little kid getting pushed to the ground and shutting up was also pretty fun. Overall I'm just greatly disappointed with this film, the funny parts are amazing, the unfunny parts ruin this film. 4/10? 5/10 I don't know, I'm not a scholar.
The Hangover (2009)
The Hangover is a film also staring Ed Helm, but with Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis playing main characters as well. It's also just more funny and a better film then whatever Vacation was. The movie is so stupid but I love it. They all get absolutely roofied and completely mess up a hotel room. They don't remember anything from the night before. It's an amazing and funny adventure through Las Vegas, kidnapping, and why you should probably consider not doing drugs. It's still one of the most seriously fun movies I've ever seen. All I can do is praise it. The more nasty jokes that would usually disgust me are so quick that I don't get as grossed out by them. I wouldn't call this a stoner film by any means like Evil Bong but I would still call this a really good film that I would recommend to anyone who likes movies like Harold and Kumar. Easy 10/10 film if I ranked films.
